OLD KILPATRICK TO MILNGAVIE VIA THE KILPATRICK HILLS AND WEST HIGHLAND WAY

https://asperformance.com/uncategorized/52t120v 26/02/22 – Today’s run wasn’t as planned. I was supposed to be up north with Fiona for an adventure but the weather forecast scuppered it. So, with 4hrs of running to do Beardy and I decided to do a point to point. We got the train to Kilpatrick station to start. First up was all up hill to the trig point up the Kilpatrick Slacks. Next was along the side of Loch Humphrey to the top of Doughnot hill. The wind was fine on low ground but near any summits and it was blowing a hoolie. From here we went rogue on a new route and aimed for Duncolm skirting round Fyn Loch and middle Duncolm. Beardy tried the dog gate whilst I thought the stile was a better idea. From Duncolm we had a couple of choices but opted for Burncrooks then through the wind tunnel of the Whangie and up to Auchengillan trig. The downhill was like running through deep soggy weetabix with squelchy feet but that was the bog bits done. About turn and back towards Burncrooks then downhill all the way to St Mocha at Carbeth for a pit stop. The vegan sausage roll tasted so good. Final bit was along the WHW back to Milngavie. Unfortunately Beardy my watch had recorded less distance than his so I made him keep running until we hit 30km. Fuel wise Active Root electrolite and Chia Charge bars did the job. This was also the first COROS Global watch outing. Surprisingly I managed to link the watch to both Strava and Training Peaks and it worked. I’m not the best with technology but this was easy. Total was 30km and 1100m elevation.
