LAND O’ BURNS 10KM

25/05/23 – Tonight it was the fabulous Land O’ Burns 10km race courtesy of Ayr Seaforth Athletics Club and thanks to @youngheartsrunfreepodcast for the place. I loved it!!!! I grew up in Ayr so I ran the whole race reminiscing. Starting at Seafield the race started off along the prom towards Doonfoot, the sun was shining with beautiful views across the coast and over to Greenan Castle, across the River Doon bridge (this didn’t exist when I was younger and always had to walk the long way round wishing there was a bridge to get to the other side). Next it was round the houses in Doonfoot, passing my childhood house, my primary school and the pub I worked in. The route went up the tree lined Earls Way, this used to be a MASSIVE hill when I was young but now I realise it’s just a slight incline. Back down to the front, across the bridge and eventually up Greenfield Ave. At the top it was a left and past Burns Cottage with a nice downhill along Monument Rd. Final part was into the Old Racecourse grounds and to the finish.

How’d I do? PB of 42:39 and 4th female. Given this was my 3rd race in 10days I’ll take that.

Final stop was a visit to see an old school friend before I headed up the road. I really did love this race and would recommend.
